Go to Marfa
Hike in a National Park
Sleep In A Yurt
See A Wild Horse
See a Canyon
Soak in a Hot Spring
(aka go outside but make it epic)
A few weeks ago I spent 4 days in West Texas. And I packed in A LOT.
About 2 months ago my bestf and I both texted we needed a vacay / trip. I was ready to hop on a plane but she suggested staying closer to home. Great, got some stuff I need to do on my list anyways!
Hiking, Nature, and a yurt lead the way on this. Sure, we could have done all of these in Wimberley, but… this year is about doing big things.
And Baby, we did.
I have never been in a National Park — so I was not ready for the size of it. It takes you hours to drive through the whole daggone thing!
HOURS!
We had plans to explore Big Bend, Marfa, and all the fun in between. And we did. I added staying in a Yurt once I saw there were some there (gorgeous), added the hot springs since we didn’t get to do in New Mexico, and I plan on seeing the wild horses in the Outer Banks…but then there was one on the other side of the Rio Grande, living it’s best life in Mexico.
We went prepared for a dip in the hot springs, but it was cooling down in the Rio Grande for me. I could have stayed there all day, truly.
We didn’t do hard hikes — I’ll save that for a National Park with trees (your girl loves trees)…but man. What a beautiful time.
Go touch grass everyone.
I loved every moment of this trip. 8 hours driving down flew by while we laughed at podcasts and gabbed about life. The Thunderbird was a super cute hotel. Everything closing at 3pm was — cute too.
The yurt overlooked Big Bend and had a window in the ceiling so I could star gaze from bed.
I STAR GAZED FROM BED.
Big Bend had everything you could want. Beautiful canyons, mountains galore, and no cell service. You like cacti? Got em. Wanna see red ones, yeah, got those too.
